Fully qualified engineers utilise the latest 3D CAD systems to design towbars that fit all the vehicle manufacturers specified attachment points. All towbars are manufactured using high strength structural steel plate, tube and section. These materials being formed and shaped into components by employing a variety of modern production techniques including two state of the art laser cutting machines that can cut steel up to 20mm thick within a tolerance of less than 0.5mm. Fabrication is carried out on a jig system to ensure that bars will always be produced to a consistent size and standard so guaranteed to fit a vehicle correctly, whilst several robotic welding stations ensure a high degree of accuracy and weld quality.
A long life and increased protection, is achieved by using in-line shot blasting followed by a seven stage zinc phosphate pre-treatment before a final epoxy coating that is cured to a hard and durable finish. Quality control is a key element throughout the whole manufacturing process with checks carried out at every stage of production, even to the extent of weighing each box to confirm that all components are included.
In 2007, Witter introduced the most advanced product tracking system in the industry. From the point at which the steel is created through to the exact vehicle to which a towbar is fitted, Witter can trace the lifecycle of the bar. We know who was involved at each stage of the manufacturing process, the dates and times the bar was in production and at which stage, who packed it, who transported it and which installer fitted it to the car. All our employees are proud of their craftsmanship and would be happy to have their names stamped on the product if space allowed, as a testament to the care and attention they lavish on every towbar. Through the Track and Trace System, we are able to provide this recognition albeit electronically. Our customers are offered levels of quality and security in the product previously unknown.
